We are Deep Sea Reporter – a digital news magazine focusing on the sea. We are part of the production company Deep Sea Productions and our web address is: https://www.deepseareporter.com.

What personal data do we collect?

If you choose to subscribe to our newsletter, which is provided via mailchimp, we collect the following personal data about you.

  • Name. We collect your first and last name in order to address you personally in our newsletters.
  • Email address. In order to send our newsletter to you as a subscriber, we need to register your email address.

How do we collect personal data?

  • Information you provide. The data is collected from you when you fill in our newsletter form.
  • Use of service etc. We obtain some of this information by recording how you interact with our website through the use of cookies on our web pages (please read our cookie policy) when you access our news.

How we use personal data

In this section we have summarised the purposes for which we process your personal data.

  • Provide services. We use your data to provide you with our newsletter. This processing is necessary for us to deliver our newsletter to you.
  • Communication. We will contact you by email to reach you with our newsletter and also to remove you as a subscriber, if desired.

How we share your personal data

We store your contact information at mailchimp.com, but will never use your name or email address in any other way than to send out our newsletter or to unsubscribe you.

If you choose to share our material on social media, your browser will transfer device data to the social media, such as the date and time of sharing, the type of device you are using, your operating system and IP address, the URL of the visit, and information about which article you are sharing.

How long we keep your personal data

We keep personal data for as long as it is necessary for the purposes described in this policy, i.e. for as long as we choose to send out newsletters. If you choose to unsubscribe, we will delete the personal data we hold about you (email address, first and last name, and date of birth).

Changes to this Privacy Policy

We will update our Privacy Policy when necessary to reflect changes in the law or in our services. But also if we think we can clarify and improve the information. When a policy is updated, the last update date at the bottom of the policy changes.
