When the killer whales have successfully herded shoals of herring, and it is time to eat, a large competing animal appears and benefits from their work. Even seabirds and fishermen gather to get their share of the spoils.
This third part of the reportage series, where we follow the underwater photographer Johan Candert under the surface in Northern Norway, is about how killer whales and humpback whales eat the fish. Researcher Hanne Strager talks about the animals’ behavior at this stage. She has an important role in the expedition, because even the underwater photographers are chasing the herring and need to know where and when to dive.
We also get to take part in a night dive with Candert and his colleague Göran Ehlmé, where they meet more of the inhabitants of the Arctic Ocean.
